Journal Article Analysis assignment 1-3

The article I chose is about reality television and how they are trying to portray the shows.  This article targets many different audiences because it talks about many different reality shows.  Reality shows tend to get the audience hooked because this is how the audience wants to live.  Some people’s dreams are not touchable without the help of a reality show.  This article tries to reinvent the British life style through several different reality shows.  I am one that gets hooked on these types of shows because sometimes your dreams are bigger than you can afford plus it gives me ideas of how to improve my own home or garden.
The article mentions a series called “What not to Wear” which is about a couple that invades someone’s closet and throws out all of their cloths because they are out of style or not what they should be wearing to show off their figure.  They give the person money to go shopping after telling them what they should be wearing that would be more form fitting for their figure.  They tell the contestant that the more money that you spend on the clothing the better it will show off your figure, not always will paying less for your clothes be the best for what you should wear.
It also portrays the reality show changing rooms, and Super nanny.  The show changing rooms is about completely changing one room that the contestant wants changed.  The contestant comes back and finds that they do not even recognize their room and just absolutely love it.  This gets people hooked because they dream of having their room made over.  Super nanny is about a British nanny coming into an American household to help get unruly kids under control and to teach the parents how to handle them.
Reality shows are becoming very popular in today’s society.  Most of our reality shows are based from reality shows in Brittan.  These shows are real and that is what the audience wants to see.  The audience wants to see that there are real outcomes and not just a fantasy.  These types of television shows help people with real life situations and design ideas.  They show real life situations with real life outcomes.
The article was very easy to read and flowed very well.  It explained everything in detail and you could understand all of the points that were made.  They started out by explaining all of the shows and how they work and what the contestants expect.  It is aimed at several different audiences such as people that want to become beautiful, people who want to make over their rooms and need help getting their children under control.    It flowed very well also keeping the reader interested in the article.
As I mentioned before, reality shows have become very popular over the last few years and I believe that in the years to come we will see more and more of these shows come about.  Most of these shows have cash rewards for the winner at the end of the show or give the contestants a prize.  Many people that watch these types of shows wish that they were the contestants.  Reality television is a thing of the present and future.  I believe that we need to see more articles like this to help promote reality television.

  1. It is a great article analysis. It is easy to understand and for the most part is true about the type of television programs that are transmitted. Reality shows are very popular and appealing to the public with realistic issues. People tend to get involved with other people's issues rather than focus on their own. However, the reality shows are very entertaining, at least that is what my wife says.
    Great article

  2. Reality television has definitely become very popular over the last couple of years. For one it seems to give people a sense of opportunity and help people establish their own goals in hopes of succeeding like the people on reality t.v. It also gives people something to talk about. People love to gossip and having the opportunity to look into other people's lives makes that possible. Great article and great analysis.

  3. Interesting article, especially when in looking at the more home improvement and fashion focused reality shows. It is interesting that they discuss the fact that the shows do everything without a budget. Of course, if I had unlimited resources buying clothes that fit perfectly would be easy and redoing my garden or bedroom would be done tomorrow. But for most of us that is not reality. I think it is really "what I wish was reality" television and not as much reality for all of us. Good work!

  4. Reality TV shows are now a big thing. I find myself setting my TV to record them when I am not around to watch it right away. These shows are exciting and keep people on the edge. We like to watch real people in real situations on tv instead of the script by script all the time.
I think your analysis was great overall and the detail were awesome!
